Japanese Green Tea Matcha: Properties, Uses, Brewing Method
Matcha is the highest quality powdered green tea available. It has a full umami flavor, intense green color, and creamy consistency. It is ideal for tea ceremonies and preparing it in its traditional form. It is obtained only from the first harvest of fresh leaves of the bush, which mature under special mats protecting them from the sun. This gives the leaves a higher content of chlorophyll and l-theanine, as well as an intensely green color. Only the best green tea leaves are selected for our Matcha production, so when you buy Ceremonial Matcha, you can be sure you are getting the best possible product.
History of Matcha
Matcha has a long and rich history dating back over 1200 years. It is believed to have originated in China, where it was used as a medicinal tea. Matcha was first used in Japan in the early 12th century when a Buddhist monk brought it from China. Monks began using matcha to help them focus during meditation.
